From Bing to Google Maps

We've been practicing catching bullets with our teeth, but we took some time to also update the maps on your sites from Bing to Google Maps.  Google Maps is considered to be the standard when it comes to online mapping.  This move will also allow us to use the “Driving Directions” feature on the websites. This enhancement is currently in production and we will be rolling it out soon! Please let us know if you have any questions. 866.428.9104

Google Place Page Best Practices

What do you need to do to have a Google Place Page that is 100% complete and helps you rank high in local search results?

1.  Create or edit your Google Business Listing by logging in to your Google Account.

(Be sure to add 5 categories that describe the services you offer)

2.  Put a process in place for gathering customer reviews (Sales and Service!).

3.  Add dealer photos, video, and coupons to your Place Page.

To get started, select Business Solutions on the main page of Google.

Choose Google Places

If you don't have a Google account, you'll need to create one.

(If you have a GS Marketing FUSION website, you already have a Google account.)

Select EDIT to make changes to your Place Page.

For a 100% complete listing, keep the following things in mind:

1.  Make sure your location marker is correct

2.  Your main phone number should include your area code.  To add a 800 tracking number, click ADD MORE PHONE NUMBERS.

3.  Choose up to 5 categories that describe your services:  Automotive sales, service, repair, body shop, etc.

You can also add a 'post' to your listing that you can change often (or it expires every 30 days).  This is great for advertising oil changes, iPods with purchase, complimentary lunch on Saturday, gift cards, new owner events, or vehicle launch parties.

You can also add coupons to your Place Page that show up on smart phones.  Try advertising some Service coupons:  Oil Changes, Tire Rotations, Cold Weather Checks, % Off One Item, or State Inspections.

Use your Google Place Page dashboard to gather loads of great information like how many times you appeared in searches, number of clicks to your website, top search words and where driving direction requests came from.

This is a different dashboard than Google Analytics in that it only reflects activity associated with your Place Page.

Once last pointer, here is an example of a local listing:

Check yours often and get to work on those customer reviews.  They can make a big difference in how you appear in those listings.

P.S.  There isn't a Google phone number to call if you aren't able to get into your listing, but there is some helpful information from Google HERE.
